클라우드 서비스는 원활한 서비스 확장을 지원하고 컨텐츠를 더욱 빠르게 제공하는 동시에 대규모 공격의 영향을 완화하기 위해 일반적으로 캐싱, 복제, 로드 밸런싱 등의 기술을 사용합니다. 가용성 기능을 비활성화하거나 잘못 구성하면 서비스 성능이 저하됩니다. 그런데 트래픽 급증, 하드웨어 오류 등의 심각한 상황이 발생할 때까지는 가용성 저하의 즉각적인 영향이 나타나지 않는 경우도 많습니다.
